First thing today is Teaser Tuesday:
This week’s teaser comes from The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, p 23:
“Noboru Wataya, /Where are you? / Did the wind-up bird /Forget to wind your spring?”
OK, so it’s technically a poem- but Noboru is both a man and a cat, so I think he’s forgiven 🙂
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I know you might be thinking that tantrums don’t usually go with Teaser Tuesday, so I’ll get my whinge over and done with now, so please feel free not to read!
Today I received my first ‘nasty’ blog comments (although not from any bloggers that I recognise). Why can’t we all play nicely? I don’t profess to be a perfect book blogger- certainly my reviews are far from high literature and I try not to give too much away plot-wise because I’d like you to share in the joy I had from the particular book- but I don’t deserve to be belittled either. May I suggest if you’re here to get information for an essay or report, it would just be a lot easier to read the book, the way everyone else did before the internet!
Rant over, resume normal transmission and have a great week!
I like you teaser. The book sounds interesting. My Young Adult teaser is from Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin. Happy reading!
Thank you 🙂 Extraordinary has a great cover- glad you’re enjoying reading it!
Hey, simply ignore the nasty commenters. They don’t deserve any mention at all!
BTW, Murakami is a wonderful writer. I plan to read all his books. I have read only two.
Here is my Teaser Tuesday post!
Thanks for the support- sometimes I just feel I need to get things off my chest!
Which Murakamis have you read? I really loved Norwegian Wood and even though I’m not a fan of short stories, after the quake.
I do like the teaser; it gives away enough that I’m now curious about the book.
Thanks for sharing…rant and all! lol
Hope you have a great day. Here’s my teaser:

Thanks 🙂 How I’d love to see a rainy (or snow) day here! Please try the book, it’s really gripping!
Good teaser…sorry to hear about the nasty comment – try not to let it get to you too much. 🙂
Here’s my teaser.
Thanks for the kind words 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying The Wife’s Tale!
Hmmm interesting 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!
Here’s my Tuesday Teaser
Love your blog’s name! Love your teaser 🙂
I’ve always thought this one sounded very intriguing. It’s on my TBR list – hope to get to it soon. Love the teaser!
It’s quite long (I’ve read less than 100 pages this week- unheard of for me!) but the quality is great
What a delightful teaser. I like the change in format. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/09/book-review-what-alice-knew-by-paula-marantz-cohen.html

From the Shadows
I think it will take me a long time to read this- it demands full attention and I’m so sleepy after work. But his writing is brilliant.
I hope that you enjoy your book. Here’s my Teaser for Tuesday.
Love the layout of your blog- enjoy Born to Bite!
Sorry to hear about that nasty comment, some people . . . ! You’re doing great! 🙂
Love the teaser, Murakami’s on my list, I’ve only read one of his works so far. Here’s my (very late) teaser:

Thanks for the support 🙂
I’ll be interested to hear what you think of The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.
Great teaser! I’ve had this on my shelf for awhile but have always been a bit intimidated by Murakami, I’ve heard his work can be difficult. Looking forward to reading your review of it!
I’m finding it a bit of a slow read (partially because I’ve been so tired this week!). There’s also some things that are a bit fantastical (difficult for a fantasy-phobe like me) but overall it’s pretty good so far. He has an excellent way with words.
