Mailbox Monday 29/7/13

Last week seemed to go by so quickly that I can’t even remember what I did! It seemed to be work, eat, read, sleep and then repeat. I was lucky again to receive a couple of wins in the mail. The first one was a massive bundle from the lovely ladies at The Sweet Escape after I won a recent competition. Thank you! I think this is the biggest parcel I have ever received!

Eight massive books. Milly Johnson’s White Wedding is about three brides to be and the owner of a bridal boutique. Ali Harris’ The First Last Kiss
sounds bittersweet – the beginning and end of a love affair while One Perfect Summer by Paige Toon is about young love separated. The Meryl Streep Movie Club by Mia March is about a group of women bonding over a ‘secret announcement’ (I don’t think it’s a good one). Rebecca Chance’s Killer Heels
is a glamorous venture into the world of fashion and magazines. The Power Trip by Jackie Collins takes place on a yacht filled with colourful characters. Jenn J McLeod’s The House for all Seasons is Australian, looking at four former friends reuniting in their home town. Finally, The Wish List by Jane Costello looks at a woman trying to tick off boxes on a ‘before-you’re-thirty’ list. Wow!

I also won this beautiful Persephone book from Alex in Leeds. Heat Lightning by Helen Hull is about a young woman who returns home to her family for a visit – though she’s not exactly sure why she’s come. Thank you!

I also found this wonderful book, Underground: How the Tube Shaped London on the Readings bargain table. Filled with lovely pictures and interesting facts, it tells the history of the London Underground. I’m finding it fascinating.

Please do visit Tasha at Book Obsessed, our host for July. Mailbox Monday, started by Marcia, is the place to come and share your recent book acquisitions and walk away with a huge wish list! Thank you Tasha for hosting this month.
