Mailbox Monday 30/9/13

I love Mondays that are holidays, don’t you? Sleeping in, reading and catching up on all those little jobs (hopefully) are my plans for today. But more importantly, the new books!

Thank you to Bob from Beauty in Ruins for back-up hosting this month! Visit Bob and the Mailbox Monday linky list at Beauty in Ruins. Please do drop by to look at everyone’s latest acquisitions! Mailbox Monday was started by Marcia, and next month will be hosted by Gina at Book Dragon’s Lair.

I received one book in the mail this week, a lovely signed copy of Peter James’ Dead Man’s Time. Thank you to Pan Macmillan Australia and The Reading Room. The book is interactive – you can scan the code with your phone to find extra material. The novel is about a murder in Brighton that sends Superintendent Roy Grace across Europe and involves some shady history from New York. Really looking forward to it!

I also stumbled across a small book sale at the shops and couldn’t resist these titles. Stephanie Laurens proved popular at this year’s Romance Writers of Australia conference, so I thought I’d try And Then She Fell, a historical English romance. Between the Lines by Jessica Shirvington is about a girl with two lives that she shifts between. Finally, I have been recommended The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes by a lot of people, so I thought I should heed advice! This is another time shifting book with a time travelling serial killer.

In other news, I went to the Perth Royal Show yesterday for some fun, food and animals. These are a couple of my pics from the day.

Woodchopping time

Showbags, Keroppi and Hello Kitty…I didn’t come home with any!

  1. Your photo of the wood chopping is very professional. I love the look of all your books except “The Shining”. It’s not my type of book.
The Peter James book looks really interesting.

  2. Nice. I am so curious about this interactive book. Looks like this is the new direction in publishing. You must elaborate on this feature in your review

  3. Don’t you just love, love, LOVE book sales?! I get so giddy when I see a sale and stand in the middle of a bookstore; I also get a wee bit overwhelmed. LOL

Looks like you had a lovely time at your fair and with getting all those books, I’d chalk that up to a successful weekend ^.^

    Have a fabulous week!
