Last year, the friendly folk at Bookworld (that’s a great Aussie online bookstore that I often use) had a media campaign that got everyone talking for its ingenuity and for well…its awesomeness. Haven’t you always hoped a bookshelf full of free books would pop up in your area? In Melbourne and Sydney last year, that came true. People stopped to browse the books, discuss book recommendations and talk about books – some even missed their bus! Isn’t it lovely to gather strangers like that? Check out the video clip below.
In 2014, Bookworld is taking things one step further – they’re asking you to choose where the next pop-up bookshelves will appear. All you need to do is nominate a group who you think is worthy of a load of books, such as a school, community group, area or even a town. So that means you can nominate your child’s school, the local Men’s Shed or even a town/area devastated by floods or fire. It’s completely up to you.
So what are you waiting for? Get your thinking cap on and nominate a group that needs loads of great new release books, then vote here. Voting closes on 25th February 2014 and on 27th February, a final three will be chosen. You can then nominate your favourite pop-up location.
(Oh, and for your generosity…you can win a $50 Bookworld voucher a day!)
