Mailbox Monday 24/3/14

I spent yet another gift voucher recently (this time from Christmas) and came away with these two new releases. The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley attracted me because of its lovely cover and size (671 pages). This is a story told over four generations, from the British Raj to England and America. There are movie stars, grand estates and family dynasties. Looks like a great book to get stuck into during the holidays!

The cover of The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman also attracted me – what exactly is that picture? A dragonfly/fish/blob? It’s actually Coralie’s future as the mermaid in her father’s museum in Coney Island. But after she meets Eddie, an immigrant with knowledge of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, things become more complicated.

Do drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies. Overseen by Vicki (I’d Rather Be at the Beach), Leslie (Under My Apple Tree) and Serena (Savvy Verse & Wit), I’m sure you’ll find something you want to read!

  1. It’s been a while since I have read Alice Hoffman but I really want to read The Museum of Extraordinary Things . Enjoy your new books!

  2. I agree that the cover of The Midnight Rose is lovely. However, I tend to avoid chunkster books. 🙂 One of these days I have to read a Hoffman title. Hope you have a good week.

I enjoy reading your comments! Thanks for stopping by.
