I had a busy week. It seemed like I was always going somewhere or doing something (or both). I had a fantastic week in terms of books in the letterbox and I’m hoping that this week is a good one to get some reading in before bedtime!
Steven Carroll’s A New England Affair is the third book in the Eliot Quartet. It’s about TS Eliot’s muse, Emily Hale and their love and friendship. It’s an exploration of a love that could never find the right moment. Many thanks to Harper Collins.
A Promise to Kill by Erik Storey (out September) was a surprise from Simon & Schuster. It’s a thriller starring Clyde Barr, drifter with extreme skills. Seeking solitude, Clyde meets an elderly man and kindly offers to help on the family’s ranch until he’s better. But there are tensions between the Native American people and a bikie gang in the village and Clyde has to protect the people he’s offered to help.
The Last Tudor by Philippa Gregory is the last book in her Tudor series. It focuses on Jane Grey and her sisters Katherine and Mary. As always, nothing is simple or straightforward in this world. Thank you Simon & Schuster for the copy. I wonder what Philippa Gregory will write next…?
You Be Mother by Meg Mason is about Abi, who is excited to start a new family and move from London to Sydney after she falls pregnant. The only trouble is…it’s hot, confusing, hard to make friends and Stu isn’t sure he wants to be a father. Abi finally makes a friend in neighbour Phyllida but she didn’t quite tell the truth about her own family… I’m really looking forward to this, thanks Harper Collins.
The Right Time by Danielle Steel (release 29th August) is about a famous author, Alexander Green. Except that he’s actually Alexandra Winslow, who created a confusing life by writing under a male name. Alexandra leads a double life, but who can she tell the truth to? Thanks Pan Macmillan, I can’t wait to read the twists in this tale!
