What a week! I’ve got a few computer related issues and I seem to be going off on tangents from the original problem to try to fix it. I think I could have a workaround now, here’s hoping…
Anyway (one hour later after I started this post), books. I’m hoping to read a few this week as I have some days off. What they will be, I don’t know…I’m going to read what I feel like.
The Grand Tour Guide to the World is what it says it is. A guide to the countries covered by The Grand Tour in the first series with a lot of humour. Apparently there is a picture of James May in an anorak too, but I haven’t found it yet. It’s kind of like the Top Gear annuals for a slightly older audience. (It’s under Travel in Dymocks – so don’t go looking through Humour, Entertainment, Transport and Young Adult sections like I did!)
Sour Heart by Jenny Zhang has been getting loads of great feedback (like from Lena Dunham), so I had to buy this one. It’s a book of short stories about immigrants from China and Taiwan to New York City, exploring family and history.
The Necessary Angel by C.K. Stead was a prize from the kind cake-eating folk at Allen & Unwin. It’s set in Paris, involves books and witty conversation and a mystery with a surprising twist. Sounds like all you need really!
If you want to look at other books received this week across the globe, drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies.
It’s Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Book Date. Click on the pictures to read more about the books.
