Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 22/1/18

It’s hot and the air conditioner is broken, so I’ll need to make this short and sweet. Great mailbox over the last week, which means I’ll be seeking out somewhere cool very shortly to read because that doesn’t create heat!

Fall From Grace by Danielle Steel (released 30th January) has a lovely summery cover. Unfortunately, life isn’t too summery for Sydney. She’s a new widow with her stepdaughters taking away everything she knows. Forced back to work, she falls victim to the industry and must start again. Can the good prevail?

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen (released 30th January) is a book you will make many assumptions about – a jealous wife and a younger woman who is apparently perfect. You will be wrong every time. I’m really looking forward to this one! Thanks Pan Macmillan for both of these books.

Sign by Colin Dray (released 24th January) is about Sam (nice name!). He’s no longer able to speak and being looked after by Aunt Dettie. One day, Aunt Dettie packs up Sam and his sister Katie and drives them across Australia in the middle of summer – bushfire season. Something is very wrong here and the family trip takes a turn for the worse…

The Last Train by Sue Lawrence (released 24th January) is a historical mystery with a dual timeline (i.e. my crack). In 1879, Ann Craig watches a bridge collapse with a train on it. But was her husband on it? And who is the mysterious woman? In 2015, Fiona finds her husband has disappeared but there are strange links to the events Ann saw over a century ago… Many thanks to Allen & Unwin for these reads!

If you want to look at other books received this week across the globe, drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies.
