It was a really good week for new books in the mail. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into some of these over the Easter break (or even earlier!) The weather has been really variable (hot, then rain, then cold) so it’s been good to stretch out or snuggle up with a book.
Accidental Heroes by Danielle Steel (releases 27th March) came from Pan Macmillan. Danielle’s newest novel is a thriller on board an aircraft, where someone doesn’t have the best of intentions. But a group of accidental heroes stops a tragedy, changing this group of strangers forever.
Mother’s Day by Fiona McArthur (released 2nd April) is set in rural New South Wales as Burra District Hospital’s maternity unit faces closure. For midwife Noni, this is a huge problem. But when Iain and Jacinta move into her family’s guesthouse, sparks fly between Iain and Noni. But his daughter Jacinta tells a few secrets to Noni and then a crisis happens… Thanks Penguin Australia for this book (and the quote!)
The Fortress by S.A. Jones (also out 2nd April) came from Echo Publishing. It’s been described as a feminist thriller. Jonathon arrives at The Fortress to try to save his relationship with his wife. There, he is at the beck and call of this society run by women. What happens there will change Jonathon’s mind, body and heart. (P.S. How cool is the cover?)
Little Gods by Jenny Ackland (released 28th March) is about 12 year old Olive Lovelock. When she finds out her baby sister died, Olive is determined to find out what really happened. Her quest to get to the bottom of this mystery will have repercussions for both her family and community. Thanks Allen & Unwin!
