Australia is having weird weather at the moment – very hot or unseasonably cold. We’ve had both over the last week so the cold was rather welcome! I bought three books and received two last week:
The Dreamers by Karen Thompson Walker (released February) arrived from Simon & Schuster. There’s been a lot of good buzz about this book which is about a strange illness that strikes an isolated town. Girls keep falling asleep and can’t be roused. Panic spreads as the ill are having heightened dreams – but what of?
Maybe This Time by Jill Mansell (out tomorrow) came from Hachette. Mimi is visiting her dad in a small English village when she meets Cal. It’s not meant to be then, nor four years later. Something always seems to be in the way of their potential relationship – will the planets ever align?
One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid sounds like an emotional read. Emma loses her husband Jesse shortly after the high school sweethearts marry. She moves on and finds happiness with Sam – but years later, Emma discovers Jesse is still alive. Which man is her one true love?
After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid (you might have guessed that I love her novels) is about Lauren and Ryan. Their marriage isn’t working, so they decide to take a year off from each other. No contact. Anything else is fair game. Over the time, Lauren realises that everyone has a different idea as to what marriage and fidelity mean, but what are her values?
The Bookseller by Cynthia Swanson is described as ‘Sliding Doors in a bookshop’. Katharyn/Kitty has two lives, one single and one married. Kitty dreams of Katharyn, each dream becoming more vibrant. Should Kitty pursue becoming Katharyn, and at what cost to her?
If you want to look at other books received this week across the globe, drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies.
