Happy Monday – hope the mothers out there had a good day yesterday! I received three books last week, plus I bought two (couldn’t resist).
The Day the Lies Began by Kylie Kaden (released August) was a lovely surprise from Pantera Press. I’ve enjoyed Kylie’s novels previously and I can’t wait to see what she does in this domestic noir. Two couples in a small coastal town are tangled in a web of lies but when the truth is washed up, who will forgive? Who will betray?
Messy, Wonderful Us by Catherine Isaac (available June) was another surprise from Simon & Schuster. Allie finds out a dramatic secret about her family and goes to Italy with best friend Ed to try to find out the truth. But Ed is hurting too and the secrets become questions that must be answered.
Allegra in Three Parts by Suzanne Daniel (available 29th May) is about Allegra, aged 11 and her life. Her grandmothers are like chalk and cheese, each encouraging Allegra to do something different. Meanwhile her father lives out back, gambling and hurting. Allegra just wants them all to get along, but it takes sometimes big to get them to revisit it. Thank you to Pan Macmillan for the copy.
An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen involves a mysterious study on ethics and morality. Jess thought it would be an easy way to take money but the study takes an invasive turn to the point where it controls her life.
Marriage Vacation by Pauline Turner Brooks will be familiar to those of you who watch Younger. Kate has the perfect New York life – or so she thought. After a wedding makes her realise what she hasn’t done, she goes on a one week adventure. But things don’t quite turn out as planned…
