Not too much around this week, it seems like the trucks/trains/aeroplanes didn’t come to this part of Australia. I still managed to buy two books though!
Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas by Adam Kay arrived from the kind people at Pan Macmillan. This cute hardcover tells the stories of working in a British hospital in the lead up to Christmas. (There had better be a sequel, The Day Shift After Christmas, because I think that would be equally entertaining)!
Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev is about an Indian American family in San Francisco. Trisha is a neurosurgeon, but her family still lay down the rules. DJ Caine is a chef and not interested in Trisha or her family, but his sister desperately needs Trisha’s expertise. Can the pair put their disagreements aside?
The Gunner Girl by Clare Harvey is about three women working during the second world war in England. Bea is from the East End and wants to escape her controlling mother. Edie is wealthy, but is determined to make a difference. Joan doesn’t remember anything of her past, nor does she have a home to go to.
