Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 2/12/19

It’s time to start opening those advent calendars (or check if they are on sale). Black Friday seems to be a major shopping event now in Australia and I must admit to getting a few things I’d had my eye on!

The Daughter of Victory Lights by Kerri Turner (available February 2020) came thanks to Harlequin. It’s set in 1945 and 1963. As World War II ends, Evelyn is dismayed to be heading back towards her rigid life after being part of a searchlight regiment. But then she finds a secret night show held in the middle of the Thames and joins the crew. The shows become bigger, but so does the toll on the crew. Nearly twenty years later, Lucy is a lonely little girl welcomed into a family of performers. The one thing they won’t tell her relates to Evelyn.

One Summer Between Friends by Trish Morey (available January 2020) was also from the kind folk at Harlequin. Sarah returns home to Lord Howe Island after her career and marriage fail. She really doesn’t want to be there, particularly as she will be close to her ex-best friends. Floss has an enviable life, but a secret threatens all that. Jules can’t forget the past but she can set things right. Can the trio rekindle their friendship?

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory starts with a proposal at a baseball game – of the wrong sort. Nikole is rescued from the embarrassing moment and subsequent media furore by Carlos. Neither of them is looking for anything serious, but soon they start breaking all their own rules…

Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai is about Livvy and Nicholas. Every year, they meet up for one night. But one year Livvy didn’t show up…and neither of them can forget the memories. So when Livvy shows up in town, Nicholas can’t help but be distracted even though their families are divided. They simply can’t be together.

  2. Nice looking variety of books. All of them are new to me. I’m trying to read some of my TBR mountain books for the rest of the month. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
