Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 9/12/19

Well, not much has changed in Australia this week (except that Black Friday deliveries are arriving). Still multiple bushfires and very hot weather. Everyone has become very adept at seeking out shade and air conditioning.

Let’s talk books instead. I received one and bought three:

Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella arrived thanks to Penguin. I enjoy the Becky Bloomwood books as they are always light and fun. This year, Becky will be hosting her first Christmas and you know that means drama and shopping (with free delivery). Her family is making varied demands for Christmas and then her old boyfriend shows up with his new girlfriend. Sounds like chaos in true Becky style!

The Guest Book by Sarah Blake is about the Milton family, a powerful old family of New York. Over the years, scandal and tragedy has occurred and now the money has run out. What is the truth about their wealth?

Ordinary People by Diana Evans is about two couples, each with their own problems in their relationship. Exploring grief, sex, love and parenthood, each character explores their identity.

The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin is about two female doctors, at the top of their career game and with families. But then Nick makes a reappearance in their lives, exposing secrets and bringing up difficult choices from the start of their careers.

If you want to look at other books received this week across the globe, drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies.

It’s Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Book Date. Click on the pictures to read more about the books.
