Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 10/2/20

Where did that week go? It was busy in some parts, fun in others. Just one book in the mail this week, but I did supplement with some purchases:

The House on Endless Waters by Emuna Elon (translated from the Hebrew by Anthony Berris and Linda Yechiel) was a lovely surprise from Allen & Unwin. Yoel is requested by his publisher to return to Amsterdam, his birthplace. He agrees, despite having promised his mother he would never go back. While at the Jewish Museum, he sees a picture of his mother, father, sister and a baby. What is the truth? As Yoel digs into the dark history of World War II, he beings to wonder who he really is. This novel will be released on March 3 (RRP $22.99).

The Nancys by R.W.R. McDonald finds 11-year-old Tippy being looked after by her uncle and his boyfriend while her mum is away. Tippy falls in love with his Nancy Drew books and when her teacher is found dead, it’s an opportunity to play Nancy Drew with her uncles. But it’s a lot more dangerous than it seems…

The Farm by Joanne Ramos is about a different kind of farm…for babies. Mae Yu runs the luxury Golden Oaks, catering for the fertility economy. Jane sees it as a chance to change her life – but what will it cost her?

  1. House on Endless Waters sounds very interesting. Not only because it has been translated from Hebrew, but you can’t help but wonder why Yoel isn’t in the picture.

  2. I loved Daughter of Victory Lights and I’ve just started on House on Endless Waters today. I am enjoying Elon’s writing style.
