Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 22/6/20

It’s cold. It’s winter finally! Hence a little more reading got done – no way am I moving once I’m warm! (And why the photo was taken very quickly).

Croc Country by Kerry McGinnis (available 2nd July) arrived from Penguin. finds young widow Tilly caring for injured wildlife. But when the police appear asking questions about her late husband, her routine is disrupted. Who can she really trust as the past returns to haunt her?

Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan (available 2nd July) is the start of the Cities Trilogy (yay!). Lucie meets George and she can’t stand him. At all. Definitely no feelings for him. But when they meet up several years later, Lucie finds herself drawn to George and spinning a web of lies. Thank you to Penguin for the copy.

Heavy by Kiese Laymon is a memoir of a black man growing up in America. It describes his experiences in life, such as college and sexual violence and relationships with family, sex, gambling and writing.

Music Love Drugs War by Geraldine Quigley finds four friends wondering what to do now that school is nearly over. But for now, they hang out at the Cave while the streets of 1981 Derry are a war zone. A single decision could change things forever…

  1. I was declined when I tried to get the Kevin Kwan on Netgalley. I’m not getting mail these days from any publisher, sigh. Enjoy it.

  2. We’re finally getting warm weather here. I prefer that to our seemingly endless winters. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  3. I like Kevin Kwan’s style in Crazy Rich Asians. I’ll be interested to hear what people think of this series. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Ah yes I love a bit of cold weather, so long as there is sun involved as well, which we have yesterday and coming up today to go with it. I saw a good review of the Anne Tyler book, hope you liked it. Happy reading.

  5. As usual, new books to me. I have to admit I was caught by the title “Croc Country”.
Always makes me smile to think you are cold while we are hot.
    Have a good week.
