Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 12/10/20

And another Monday rolls around…I didn’t see a lot of sun last week, hoping for more this week! I received one book in the mail and bought two:

The Shearer’s Wife by Fleur McDonald (available 3rd November) arrived thanks to Allen & Unwin. Set across forty years, there is a mystery that connects the two eras in the small town of Barker. For Jack and Zara, it becomes a difficult time as they investigate a crime from opposing sides. How could an arrest in 2020 for narcotics be related to a young couple in 1980?

Because Internet by Gretchen McCulloch is about how the internet is changing the English language, from memes to text message punctuation and abbreviations. I’m sure there will be some lolz (and hopefully no wtf) in there somewhere!

Economics: the user’s guide by Ha-Joon Chang describes economics, why it matters and what it can tell us about the world. It looks easy to read and understand.

To see other books received/bought this week across the world, drop by the Mailbox Monday blog for links to everyone’s mailbox goodies.

It’s Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Book Date.

What I read last week:

What I’m reading at the moment:

What I’ll be reading next:

Hmm…likely to be fiction.
