It’s been a very rainy week, with my average speed on the way home one night 6km/hr (yes, walking speed). Let’s talk books instead:
Libertie by Kaitlyn Greenidge arrived thanks to Allen & Unwin. Libertie is interested in music, but her mother has other ideas – she wants them to be a team of physicians in post-Civil War Brooklyn. But Libertie can’t pass for a white woman, unlike her mother, and freedom looks very different for her.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid is about the Riva family in Malibu. Their father is a famous singer, but the Riva children have had to make their own way. Their infamous party will have many truths being told and changes in direction before it’s over.
Power Play by Julia Banks is about her time in Australian federal politics and women in the workplace as leaders. I saw an interview with her recently and found it really interesting.
