Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 6/9/21

Two lovely book surprises in the mail this week from Bloomsbury, which I’m really looking forward to:

Today a Woman Went Mad in the Supermarket by Hilma Wolitzer (available 2nd November) is a collection of stories mainly through the eyes of a married couple. There are weddings, annoying neighbours and ex-wives, and ordinary lives in the book of old and new writing.

The Woman From Uruguay by Pedro Mairal (also available 2nd November) is the story of an unemployed writer on his way to pick up a large amount of money. It might solve his problems, including the suspicion that his wife is having an affair. He’s thinking about the woman from Uruguay that he met once, and is about to meet again. But she has her own baggage and their day together may turn out very different from planned…

What I’ll be reading next:

Not sure but likely to be something lighter.
