Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading: 27/9/21

It was a big week locally with the AFL (Australian Football League) grand final and the Royal Show both on. I spent my showbag money on books instead…

The Raffles Affair by Vicki Virtue arrived from Penguin. It’s a murder mystery set in Singapore as former MI6 agent Victoria arrives for her friend’s wedding. Unfortunately her friend’s fiancé is kidnapped, possibly murdered – but which wedding guest is responsible?

Puff Piece by John Safran is non-fiction about cigarette company Philip Morris, who are relaunching as a health enterprise. It involves IQOS heated tobacco products, aerosols and HeatSticks and John is determined to find out more about this.

Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead is about two women half a century apart. Marian Graves has always been flying, but she crashes on her dream expedition around the world. Hadley Baxter is a Hollywood star playing Marian in a movie who will discover her mysteries.

  1. I like all of your books for different reasons! ‘The Raffles Affair’ sounds like good, thrilling fun, while ‘Puff Piece’ will probably be infuriating! ‘Great Circle’ also sounds great with two women connecting across time! I hope you enjoy all of them and that you have a lovely week 🙂

  2. Interesting variety of books. I’m rereading the Elemental Masters series by Mercedes Lackey which is filling lots of my time. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
