About Me

I’m just a regular working person who enjoys reading and sharing the books I read with others. Away from books, I also enjoy cosmetics, cooking (especially baking), computing and other things that don’t start with C! I like to try to keep my blog as true to me and my reading tastes as they change over the years.

I do not receive any payment for my reviews or mention of particular books. Sometimes, I will receive a book to read and review. This is always mentioned in the relevant post. My reviews are always honest – I couldn’t sleep at night if I recommended you a poor book. If I do a sponsored post, it will be mentioned at the start of said post.

Review Policy

I am happy to accept books for review, provided that the books sound like something I’d enjoy. (I am not currently accepting self published titles for review. Unsolicited emails for self published titles will not be answered). Note that as I work full time and study part time, I can’t always be super speedy in reading and reviewing (work and study pays the bills, reviewing is for love).  Please don’t be offended if I can’t review your book. Sometimes, life – and COVID – means that priorities have to change very quickly..

I have reviewed books previously for Bloomsbury, Harlequin, Penguin Random House, Allen & Unwin, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Hachette, Pan Macmillan, Scribe Publishing and other publishers. I have also had book reviews published in The Weekend West newspaper and The Retiree magazine. I am also a published author in my field.

I enjoy general fiction, literary fiction, historical fiction, medical non-fiction and books in translation. I don’t read poetry, religious books, fantasy, military, self-help or self-published books. I’ll always mention in my review how I obtained the book and give my unbiased, honest opinion of it. Life is just too short for bad books!

I read paper books ONLY (ARC is fine). No unsolicited PDFs please.
