Mailbox Monday and What I’m Reading 9/4/18

Last week was horrible. I’m talking about hospital visits and death in the family awful. Hoping that this week is happier and peaceful. Thanks to those who sent books – it was so lovely to have some normality in a week of chaos!

The Way Things Should Be by Bridie Jabour (released 1st May) arrived from Echo Publishing. It’s a fiction novel about millennials, siblings, uncertainty and family. It’s about Claudia who is kinda sure that she’ll be getting married next week, her siblings and her parents. Every single one of them has an idea about how things should be and it doesn’t always match reality.

The Book Ninja by Ali Berg and Michelle Kalus (released 1st June) arrived from Simon & Schuster (that’s where the cute star is from – I’m too scared to open it to read the text because I know I won’t be able to make the star again). This is a debut novel about Frankie, who is looking for love and decides to take an ingenious route. Leaving books on the train to find that special someone. But she didn’t expect to find Sunny, a YA kinda guy – and Frankie is a Classic girl. This novel is by the women behind Books on the Rail.

The Rest of Me by Katie Marsh was a prize from Hachette. (It’s released tomorrow). Alex has a lot of stress in her life – high level job, chronically ill husband and the aim to be a perfect mother. But when Sam undergoes a kidney transplant (with Alex donating the kidney to her husband), things don’t go as planned. Her life is suddenly off the rails and no longer perfect. Can she face up to the mistakes of the past and rediscover what is important?

Tangerine by Christine Mangan was a purchase to take part in the #BeMoreBookish book club by one of my fave book bloggers, Tonile at My Cup and Chaucer and Sarah at More Than Adored. Alice arrives in Tangier to find, surprisingly, ex-friend Lucy. Lucy is ready to make amends and the two start to bond again. But when Alice’s husband goes missing, Alice starts to question everything in her life.

  1. So sorry you had a rough week and death in the family.
Your new books look like a good group. I like the look of The Book Ninja.
I hope you figure out how to remake the star. 🙂
